Alvydas Stančikas is Head of Unit D3 "Enforcement of Industrial and Intellectual Property Rights" at Internal Market and Services Directorate-General of the European Commission since the beginning of 2008. The mission of this newly created unit is to contribute to the fight against counterfeiting and piracy by a mixture of regulatory and non- regulatory measures at a European level.

Previously, Alvydas has worked in the area of coordination of the Lithuanian EU integration process for eleven years. He was a director of departments successively in the Ministry of European Affairs, the European Committee under the Lithuanian Government and the Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. He was also a Deputy Chancellor of the Lithuanian Government for EU affairs.

Alvydas holds Maîtrise degree in Economic Sciences and DESS degree in Diplomacy and Management of International Organisations from the University Paris – Sud after obtaining a diploma at the Vilnius University.
